Nigeria: Lawmaker Condemns Terror Attack

Warri — THE mem-ber representing Warri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Daniel Reyenieju, has expressed disgust and pains over the linkage of a Nigerian to an attempted bombing of an American airliner in Detroit, United States of America.

Speaking in a telephone interview with Vanguard from Warri, Reyenieju said the act was most condemnable, adding that, "what is most important at this stage is to determine the source(s) of inspiration towards such abominable fanaticism and possible accomplices. This is most important in view of the fact that the suspect, from reports, had been living outside Nigeria."

He noted that, "such pattern of crimes, especially those that fall within the ambit of terrorism, is not in our character as Nigerians."

He wondered whether the suspect had been indoctrinated to the extent of engaging in such act of international criminality of no mean proportion.

Reyenieju called on the American security agencies to involve their Nigerian counterparts in all processes of investigations so as to achieve comprehensive results.

Good representation, wholesome remarks, incisive but non abrasive comments - it takes a true patriot to state: '......the act is not in our character as Nigerian".
