Nigeria: Christian Body Holds Party for Durumi Residents

A Christian charity organisation, Tabitha Cumi Foundation last week hosted indigenes of Durumi village in Bwari to a party to celebrate Christmas.

The event which put the rural people in high spirits was tagged 'Put a Smile Project'.

Indigenes of the community enjoyed themselves as there was a lot of merriments and dancing.

While the local women gracefully strutted to the rhythm of the local music wrought from drums and flutes, their children got the privilege to spring up on bouncing castles rented for the children that day.

The foundation's President, Arc Tayo Erinle, presented 50 Back-to-School-Packs that comprise of a set of uniform, a school bag, a pair of sandals, a pair of socks and two exercise books to some children.

A middle-aged woman Marry Audu told this reporter that she was particularly grateful to Tabitha Cumi Foundation because last year, she was given a loan to start a business.

She however lamented that she could not pay the loan as agreed because she had not been paid money on the goods she gave out.

The foundation president pleaded with those owing to pay up so more would be covered in the revolving loan scheme.

High point of the celebration was the official presentation of a hand water pump borehole given to the community by the Australian Embassy through the foundation. This is intended to boost water supply.

Officials of the FCT Administration, Bwari area council and religious groups like the House on the Rock Church Abuja were in attendance.
