Tanzania/Cote d'Ivoire: TFF Announces Fees for Ivory Coast Friendly Tie

The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) announced yesterday entrance fees for the eagerly awaited international friendly pitting Taifa Stars against Ivory Coast.

TFF secretary general Fredrick Mwakalebela said fans wishing to watch the match from VIP A section will have to part with Sh 50,000 while tickets for VIP B and C will be sold at Sh 40,000 and Sh30,000 respectively.

According to him, the tickets for orange seats would be sold at Sh 20,000 while the blue and green seats would cost Sh7,000 and 5,000 respectively.

He said the tickets would be on sale from Saturday morning, the same day Ivory Coast would arrive.

"We are expecting them to land on Saturday with a contingent of 48 people and the match will be played at 19:30," he said.

Ivory Coast's The Elephants comprising the likes of Didier Drogba (Chelsea), Solomon Kalou (Chelsea) and Kolo Toure (Manchester City) will take on Taifa Stars on January 4 at the 60,000-seater National Stadium.

Other high profile players expected in the squad include Yahya Toure (FC Barcelona), Haruna Dindane (Portsmouth) and Emmanuel Eboue (Arsenal).

The Elephants were to play two warm-up matches against Taifa Stars, but now they will clash with Rwanda's Amavubi at the same venue on January 7.

Mwakalebela said the Amavubi would jet in on January 6 ready to battle with The Elephants who are preparing for the Africa Cup of Nations that will be held in Angola.

Meanwhile, the federation announced that the recently ended Tusker Challenge Cup fetched Sh 332, 874,000. Mwakalebela disclosed that the Young Africans-Simba SC bitterly fought encounter grossed Sh189 million.

"We had the highest gate revenue collections as compared to all previous tournaments," the official said. In another development, Young Africans chief sponsor Yusuph Manji has agreed to continue bankrolling the club.

Madega, who said Manji did not withdraw his support on Monday, told reporters yesterday that he struck a deal with the tycoon to keep on supporting the club.
