Eritrea: Major Development Achievements Being Registered in Gash-Barka Region

The undertaking of major tasks in Gash-Barka region, as regards expansion of education, transport, potable water supply and modern agricultural practices in general, as well as enhancing health service in particular would pave the way for building a prosperous and strong nation, stated staff members of administrative bodies in the region.

The Administrators, acting heads and village elders of various administrative areas in the region stated that the implementation of major programs in diverse sectors is playing vital role in improving the people's standard of living, and that the strenuous endeavors being made by the people and the Government are bearing fruitful outcome.

They further expressed satisfaction with the construction of health centers in a number of remote areas of Gash-Barka region, and added that investment being made to ensure mother and child care is registering commendable outcome.

Noting that mobile health professionals equipped with the necessary medical equipment are being deployed in those areas where health service is not yet accessible, they highlighted the fact that the local inhabitants becoming beneficiaries of health service through doing away with harmful practices attests to the vigorous endeavors.

The Administrator of Mai-Shigli administrative area, Mr. Hassen Ismael, on his part noted that the inhabitants have got access to basic social service in just a short period since independence. He added that the putting in place of various infrastructure facilities in remote areas of the region would ensure the nation's bright future.
