Gabon: Shell Group Will Stay in Gabon

Shell Gabon will continue to explore oil in Gabon after the announcement of the partial disengagement of Shell Group in some countries in Africa. This decision does not concern Gabon.

Gabon is not affected by this decision which also has no impact on exploration and production in Gabon where Shell is involved since 50 years.

Shell Group is operating a partial withdrawal in Africa, but the company keeps its branches more juicy: exploration and production.

Shell Gabon is the second largest oil operator in Gabon after Total Gabon. Ali Bongo Ondimba's country is dependent on oil for its economy and development.

On January 5, the current oil production of Shell Gabon is around 50 000 barrels per day.

Shell Gabon is a company founded in 1960 with a capital of 15 billion CFA francs, divided between Royal Dutch Shell Group (75%) and the Gabonese government (25%).

Shell Gabon will celebrate this year its 50 years of continuous presence in Gabon.
