Nigeria: Stop This Circus Show With Our Constitution

opinion

IT was during the era of the madness that was the military regimes in this country that Osahon published one of his best sellers titled, Nigeria: A Nation In Custody. Also, just about the same period, Ms Onyeka Onwenu, as she then was, in a classic research work on the inherent ills prevalent in the country then, came out with the best TV. documentary of our time captioned, Nigeria: A Squandering of Riches. Thus, the above captions simply speak for themselves because the two authors, from their different positions, saw the country, in their different titles, as a failed nation.

Now, come to think of it, the question to ask therefore is, since over 39 years ago that these works were published, has the nation been released from the shackles that held it hostage and kept it in custody? Or has the country stopped the squandering of her riches? The answers to the above questions should be food for thought. Honestly, it is most worrisome that, a country that was described as a nation in custody and squander of her riches thirty-nine years ago has remained in the same state and circumstances, in 2009. It must be truly in serious custody.
