Kigali — A 50-man delegation from Germany led by their Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation, Dirk Neibel, accompanied by Rwanda's Minister of Forests and Mines Christophe Bazivamo, yesterday visited a mining pilot project in Gifurwe in the Northern Province.

According to Bazivamo the aim of the visit to Gifurwe wolfram mines was to find out if the mining production at Gifurwe site has improved.

He also thanked the German government for supporting the mining of wolfram in Gifurwe by entering into partnership with wolfram Bengbu-und Hutten in Germany.

In his remarks, Neibel, said that Germany is committed to continue its support for development programs in Rwanda, especially through development aid and support for good governance.

The team also visited Groupe scholaire de Musanze, a primary school in Musanze district in the Northern Province that is funded by Germans.

Neibel handed over scholastic materials to the school's Director, Stratton Ntihinyuzwa. Bazivamo hailed the government of Germany for its support towards the school's construction.

Speaking to The Sunday Times, German Member of Parliament Dagmar Woehrl praised the government of Rwanda for supporting education and good governance.

The delegation that included also Six Members of Parliament, business people and journalists arrived in the country on Friday for a four-day visit.
