Johannesburg — TRADE activity in SA shrank for the first time since September, diving to its lowest level since July last year, the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SACCI) said yesterday.
Its trade conditions index - which covers wholesale, retail and export trade - plunged to 42 from 51 in November, hit by sharp falls in sales volumes and new orders. But its trade expectations index for the next six months climbed for the third month in a row, while employment prospects rose for the second successive month.
