UNAMID's peacekeeping force is expecting to boost its strength following a coordination meeting held on Thursday 22 January in Addis Ababa to finalize details for the deployment of five tactical helicopters to Darfur.
Senior UNAMID officials met with representatives from the Governments of Sudan and Ethiopia to go over the logistics of the deployment of an Ethiopian Tactical Helicopter Unit to the Mission. The Unit's main body will arrive in Nyala, South Darfur on 22 January, while five of its helicopters are scheduled to join UNAMID's peacekeeping force in mid-February.
