Cameroon: Sleeping With One Eye Open

Is Kumba fast becoming the Far West of the South West Region? We don't know your reaction but if you are not scared these days while in Kumba, then it means you have a stone heart. Even the Senior Divisional Officer (SDO) of Meme Division will not paint Kumba white when it is black.

During a recent meeting held in his conference room, SDO Abath Zangbwala Magloire was emphatic. "The rate of insecurity in this town is alarming and l am afraid it will soon degenerate into 'dog chop dog'," he declared. He reiterated that for a couple of weeks, the population has been sleeping with one eye open.

How to ensure security is not the onus of this piece. But of late, the Meme High Court, located at Krama Avenue in Kumba, was burgled. The State Counsel's Chambers too, likewise the Chambers of the President of the High Court and the office of the Registrar-in-Chief. This is not all. We have space constraint. However, you'll have a "handsome reward" if you tell us when this spate of insecurity will stop.
