In a bid to search for marketable commodities outside Monrovia, several marketers who were travelling on Bomi-Monrovia Highway were yesterday involved in a fatal motor accident which led to the death of several marketers, most of whom are women. Many were also injured. The accident occurred when a Mack Truck heading towards Monrovia collided with a 16 seated bus in the Brewerville area, few yards away from the Assembly of God Bible College.
According to information gathered by this paper, the incident took place early Wednesday morning when a Mack Truck with one headlight on excessive speed rushed into the bus with several marketers on board from Monrovia to Sasstown market.
The information revealed that the old bus was also in a rush to reach the market ground on time, but could not make it because of the accident. Victims of the accident were rushed to the John F. Kennedy Hospital in Sinkor. Eye witnesses say most of the victims taken to the hospital were dead bodies and the wounded. Value of properties destroyed was in thousands of United States dollars.
The Mark Truck, according to information, had earlier been arrested by the Liberia National Police for being "road unworthy," but was released by unknown person; something which is yet to be onfirmed. Meanwhile, the Liberia National Police is currently conducting investigation into the accident.
Eye witnesses at the accident scene say several vehicles plying the highway were defective and continue to either escape police officers assigned along the highway are being allow to continue plying the road unhindered.

This is a real sad story. I want to extend my sympahy to the families of those who died in the accident and may God help those who were injured. May they recover from their injuries. It's very heart breaking after 14 years of war that our people are still dying.
I think it's about time that the Liberian Police do more to get such drivers off the roads. No good roads, no speed limit, very sad.
