Uganda: Ritual Sacrifice Victim Drugged - Relatives

Kampala — A relative of the victim of a suspected ritual murder attempt believes that the attackers used a sedative before they cut off his genitals and plucked out his eye.

Charles Mufumbya from Kafuma village in Mpigi district, who is admitted at Mulago Hospital, was last week mutilated by suspected ritual murderers who fled with his body parts and left him for dead.

His brother, Yerefaili Mbabali, who is nursing him, said: "We believe they used chloroform in the attack."

Mbabali suspects his brother was targeted probably because he was not married and has never slept with a woman.

"His hut has no door. The entrance to the house is only covered by dry banana leaves. So the assailants had easy access," said Mbabali.

Moses Binoga, the Police commissioner in charge of the human sacrifice taskforce, also said he believes the man was drugged, but added that no arrests had been made so far.
