Uganda: Citizens Should Tithe - First Lady

Kampala — UGANDANS should abide by the teachings of the Bible and give a tenth of their income back to God through the church, the First Lady and the Minister of State for Karamoja Affairs, Janet Museveni, has said.

She was preaching at St. Luke Church Nshwere in Kenshunga sub-county in Kiruhura district on Sunday.

Mrs. Museveni said Africans dying of hunger and poverty always look to the outside world for help.

They should instead follow God's teachings, including tithing and see how they will be rewarded.

"The problem with us is that we think that our money is ours and we are not willing to give back to God," she said.

"Everything we have has been given to us by God. He does not say we should wait until we are millionaires to tithe," the First Lady added.

She encouraged Christians to give to the church part of their wealth, such as agricultural produce, cattle or goats if they do not have cash.
