Nigeria: Jos - Police Invite PRTVC Boss Over Broadcast

General Manager of the Plateau Radio and Television Corporation (PRTVC) Pastor Yiljap Abraham has been invited to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) "D" Department over an alleged inciting broadcast during the recent crisis in Jos.

The invitation is contained in a letter requesting him to appear before the Deputy Commissioner of Police Abdullahi Yuguda in connection with the role the media house played during the crisis. The letter with reference No. CR 3000/X/FHQ/ABJ/VOL.T/1 signed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police Felix Damisa for the Deputy Inspector General of Police, 'D' Department dated January 29, 2010 and addressed to the state Commissioner of Information and Communication requested the release of the General Manager to appear before the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force CID, Abuja through the Deputy Commissioner of Police DCP Yuguda Abdullahi. The letter reads in part;"This office is investigating a case of criminal conspiracy, inciting public disturbance, rioting, armed with dangerous weapons and culpable homicide in the current Jos crisis of January, 2010".
