Nigeria: Amodu to pay For Ignoring Advice on Captain Kanu

Lagos — As Shaibu Amodu continues to hang on desperately to his job, it seems his last set of desperate backers are beginning to vote to save their own skins rather than that of the beleaguered coach after all. This is coming on the heels of the fact that, corky as he is renowned to be, Amodu had disobeyed many members of the board in Angola over some tactical viewpoints in the thick of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Immediately after the very dull bronze compensation the team got for winning their classification match on Saturday, officials of the Nigeria Football Federation had categorically told him they could no longer guarantee his job. For this officials, the semi final loss to a second string Ghana team in Luanda was definitely one straw too many on their tired old back.
