The move by the Attorney-General to make changes in the Witness Protection Act so that the State can better protect witnesses of the 2007 post-election violence comes a little late in the day, but it is welcome all the same.
Yesterday, the envisaged changes were referred to, and scrutinised by, a Cabinet committee following pressure from the International Criminal Court, human rights groups and the international community.
