Muslim women have been urged to always search for knowledge because of their pivotal role in community relations and what God has ordained them to do.
The call was made at the weekend in a lecture titled 'Community Relations and Muslim Women,' organised by the Movement for Islamic Culture and Awareness (MICA) for women at the Abuja National Mosque.
Guest speaker at the occasion, Mrs. Jummai Umar Ajijola, citizenship programme manager of Microsoft Anglophone West Africa, said Muslim women should stand up to their responsibilities through continuous learning in order to meet up with the challenges ahead.
According to her, "women are the bedrock of the society and since so much hope now falls on them, they must continue to seek knowledge in other to impact on their community positively."
While condemning the popular dictum that a woman's education ends in the kitchen, child bearing and upbringing, Mrs Ajijola urged Muslim women to go beyond these stages.
She then urged every Muslim woman to regard herself as the number one nation builder because of their impact on children and the entire community.
Earlier, the Amirah of MICA, Sister Fawzah Alimi-Aladejana, in her welcome address, said the lecture aims at educating Muslim women on what is expected of them in the society.
Other Muslim Women Association like Women in Dawah, Criterion, and the Abuja Muslim Forum were also in attendance to solicit for more members among the women participants.
