The population had a historic support meeting in Fundong on January 26.
It was a great assembly of sons and daughters of Boyo Division, North West Region that salute President Paul Biya for giving them the chance to participate in nation building. "Boyo celebrates Biya" was the event in Fundong, the divisional headquarters on January 26 and mobilization was total with several guests to tell the memorable story. Among the lot included a Cameroon People's Democratic Movement (CPDM) Central Committee delegation led by Chief Dr. Dion Ngute, the Governor of the West Region, Mani Pascal, the Rector of the University of Dshang and other personalities like Prof. Daniel Lantum. It was a rare event in the recent history of the division during which the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Bochong Francis Nkwain said it is a demonstration that Boyo is willing and capable as partner in nation building. A high point at the event featured "Kwifoin Kom", the highest traditional society of the Kom land saluting and thanking President Biya for the "many things that have happened to Kom and Bum (main tribes that make up Boyo) with him as the one carrying the spear of the nation". The seventeen members of the Kwifoin society that filed past the Fundong Grand stand urged Kom and Bum people to remain peaceful and support the efforts of President Biya for Cameroon to grow and prosper.
The event also showcased the traditional weight of Kom people and speaking for the women of the land, Mariana Chindo said the women of Boyo are now fully mobilized to give leadership along with men and that it is time out for all who think that women are there only to sing "anlu" songs or to be used in "takembeng" demonstrations. The women committed to use their numbers in making meaningful choices for development. The elite with Awoh Ndang Denis as their spokesperson saluted President Biya for making Boyo part of nation building despite their waywardness in political decisions in recent times. Awoh Ndang rejoiced that hope is around with Boyo sons and daughters increasingly standing by President Biya for leadership that guarantees prosperity.
Curtains dropped on the event with the CPDM Central Committee delegation leader, Chief Dr. Dion Ngute acknowledging that President Biya has a positive vision for Cameroon and needs to be celebrated. Those who questioned what was there for Boyo to celebrate were told that the division and all that goes with it is Biya's creation. The CPDM delegation to the event included Dr. Fuh Calistus Gentry, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Mines, Industries and Technological Development, Monkam Fabien, Christophe Mien Zok, Fru Jonathan and Ngong Christopher.
