Nigeria: Imo to Replace Sacked Council Chairmen

Owerri — A list of new sole administrators for the 27 local government areas of Imo State has been sent to the State House of Assembly by Governor Ikedi Ohakim for screening and possible confirmation.

The list includes Chief Sam Osuji for Isiala Mbano, Mr. Uche Igbokwe for Ikeduru, Chief Maximus Amajoyi for Nkwerre, Chief Louis Asionye for Ehime Mbano and Chief Emmanuel Odor for Owerri Municipal, amongst others.

Meanwhile, the Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Chief Goodluck Opiah, has constituted ad-hoc committees of the House, before who the appointees are to appear for screening.

In a similar development, three dissolved commissions in the state have been reconstituted by Governor Ohakim, less than 24 hours after the commissioners were sacked by the administration.

Government announced Chief Robert Asuzu as Chairman of Civil Service Commission, Chief Frank Nwokoro was named as Chairman of Local Government Service Commission, while the State Independent Electoral Commission, ISIEC, is chaired by Mr. Emmanuel Nwaonye.
