FORMER Dynamos' goalkeeper Zondai Nyaungwa is contemplating to quit Swaziland club Mbabane Highlanders over unpaid salary, in the latest of a series of problems facing Zimbabweans at the club.
Nyaungwa, the Bulls' first choice goalkeeper, threw in the towel last week ahead of their Confederations Cup preliminary tie against Caps United at Rufaro Stadium next weekend.
Reports from Swaziland yesterday indicated that the club had persuaded the player to stay on.
The cash-strapped club has been thrown into turmoil following the resignation of Philip Mbofana who terminated his service on December 9 last year. The former Zimbabwe Young Warriors' coach also cited salary problems among other things when he resigned.
Murape Murape also ditched Highlanders in September last year after they failed to pay his signing-on fee and was made to run from pillar to post in trying to get his salary. The former Dynamos skipper has rejoined the Glamour Boys and is part of their Champions League squad.
Murape and Nyaungwa joined Mbabane Highlanders in August last year. The pair decided to move to Swaziland as they were not getting enough game time at Dynamos.
Nyaungwa a hit at Mbabane Highlanders is expected to play a crucial role in the club's bid to conquer Africa. Nyaungwa came home for the Christmas break without receiving his December salary.
He went back to Swaziland early January and was locked out of his flat last week for failing to pay his rentals. The player was also expecting to get his salary for December and winning bonuses for three matches. He tendered his resignation after failing to get both.
"I have been very loyal to the team and the officials could not appreciate that as they ill-treated me. I had to go home in December without having been paid my salary and nobody has ever bothered to bail me out. I have been living in my flat since last week without water and food.
"The manager has been difficult when I tried asking for the money as the other officials told me that my salary was with him. So, I have decided to resign and will go back home if there aren't better offers from other Swazi teams," Nyaungwa said.
