Freetown — As the Sierra Leone Football Association, (SLFA) seeks replacement for the late national home-based coach Daniel Koroma aka Diamond Toes, several names have been linked to the top job.
Amongst the names so rumoured to be gunning for the job are the Mighty Blackpool head coach, Christian Cole, former Leone Stars defender now coach of Central Parade, Lamin Bangura and coach Derrick Boison of Old Edwardians.
However, according to a reliable source, majority members of the SLFA technical committee have tipped coach Boison of Old Edwardians as favourite to land the job.
Yesterday, the executive committee of the SLFA was expected to have met and decide who should be appointed based on the submission of the technical committee.
Meanwhile, coach Boison had earlier told Concord Sports that Sierra Leoneans would see more progress in the national team should he be given the opportunity to take over the squad.
Old Edwardians football club has seen a lot a transformation since the Ghanaian-born coach took charge of the team, and Boison believes he can replicate such technical skills and winning mentality in the Leone Stars if only accorded the opportunity to coach the side.
On the other hand, Lamin Bangura is another coach who will not turn down the opportunity of taking charge of the national team. Before he took over Central Parade, Bangura had told Concord Sports he would relish the opportunity to lead the national team.
"If I am successful with Central Parade and receive any offer to coach any of our national teams, I will grab such an opportunity. I am back home to render the best to my country," the former Leone Stars defender had said before taking over Central Parade.
The new coach for the Leone Stars will have the task of preparing the team for the Africa Nations Cup home-based tournament, where Sierra Leone will have to face the Eagles of Mali in the qualifiers.
