Sierra Leone: Viareggio Cup - Napoli Defeat FC Kallon

Freetown — Napoli bended effortlessly Kallon FC 3-2 in their opening match of the Viareggio Cup in Italy.

The first half was a complete firework with heavy challenges and beautiful performance from both sides. The Neapolitan took the lead in the 10th minute through Maiello, whose cross to Ciano beat the FC Kallon goalkeeper with a big right in turn to fly the ball at the top of the net.

In the 21st minute, Mohamed Bangura aka Poborsky brilliantly utilized a cross from teammate and his right-footed shot leveled the score line for FC Kallon.

Napoli were back in front in the 25th minute after the referee awarded a penalty for a foul in the area on Bagur Insigne. Insigne raised to transform the penalty.

In the 35th minute, a cross from Tunde Scott Jr. found Alusine Kamara aka Baggio who leveled the score to 2-2.

In the second half, FC Kallon suffered from the reaction of Napoli who had managed to cope from the physicality of the Kallon players. With better tactics than the first period Insignia gave the Italians the win in the 81st minute by scoring what turned out to be the winning goal of the match.

After the match, president of FC Kallon, Mohamed Kallon, said: "I'm happy for the performance; we played a good game against Napoli, which is a great team. In the second half we had to risk more, because we went really close to balance, but the guys gave their all. I am not convinced with some refereeing decisions: the penalty, for example, and there was a goal for Napoli in sharp offside."

Napoli coach Ivan Faustino said: "Kallon FC has put us in difficulty focusing on their physical prowess. We are a very technical team and we suffered heavy conditions on the field. We did not run the risk of underestimating Kallon, who from there, could still count on surprise. The liabilities could be higher if Insigne had blatantly failed to make it 4-2. Winning debut, however, is a major psychological boost".
