Freetown — Assistant public affairs and tax education officer of the National Revenue Authority, NRA has revealed that the Koindu border customs post in the east of the country would be officially commissioned today.
John Baimba Sesay said the rehabilitation of the customs post was funded by the Department for International Development, DFID, adding that the Koindu border was very much strategic to Sierra Leone.
"The commissioning of the post will increase the revenue of the country. It will also add more to national security and reduce the massive smuggling along our borders," he said.
Sesay said prior to the war, the Koindu border customs post was contributing immensely to the national revenue of the country as it was influx by international trade.
"The post collapsed during the war. The aim of NRA is to increase the country's revenue. We will definitely work immensely to actualize that dream," he maintained.
