Lagos — The number of industry associations throwing their support and accepting to speak at the March Broadband Forum coordinated by eWorld Magazine continues to swell.
In the same vein, more speakers are finding the forum a place to contribute and market their views on how to grow broadband networks, services and solutions in Nigeria.
Several companies in the ICT sector are warming up to storm the event to present their roadmap for broadband development and service provision.
The latest in the list of associations supporting the event comes from the Information Technology Association of Nigeria (ITAN). The President of ITAN, Dr. Jimson Olufuye, has endorsed his association's participation. As a result the association's newly appointed Chief Operating Officer, Oluwole Owolabi, described as a pro-active technical thinker and visionary will represent ITAN. He will speak on Broadband Benefits for Vision 202020.
The ITAN Chief also doubles as World Information Technology Service Alliance (WITSA) Africa Regional Office Head.
Also Agha Chukwuka, a Research and Development expert with Global Network for CyberSolution, Abuja comes with a fresh voice to the forum. He will speak on 'The Fusion Solution (Broadband over Powerlines).'
Telecom industry regulator, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has also endorsed the forum and its Chief Executive, Dr Ernest Ndukwe will present a key note address and the focus of policy and initiatives form the government perspective.
NCC Assistant Director, Media and Public Relations, Reuben Muoka in a letter dated February 1, 2010 conveyed NCC's approval to endorse the eWorld Broadband Forum.
It will be recalled that Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON) had earlier endorsed the forum.
Its President, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem will speak on 'Broadband Ways To the 2015 Digital Harvest for the 2020 Digital Banquet.'
The same goes for the Nigerian Internet Group (NIG). Its President, Lanre Ajayi will speak on 'Bridging the Digital Divide through Broadband.'
The Association of Lisenced Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON) and Institute for Software Practitioners of Nigeria (ISPON) have also endorsed the forum. Their CEOs Gbenga Adebayo and Chris Uwaje respectively, will be speaking on the last mile gap in broadband services and broadband implication for the local environment.
Also Ace industry analyst, maganement consultant and founding Chief Executive Officer of eShekels, Mr. Fola Odufuwa will speak at the eWorld forum on 'Keying Nigeria into Global Broadband Trends.'
