Former Assistant Postal Affairs Minister Terry S. Genesis has been cleared of the corruption charges against him.
Mr. Genesis was indicted early 2009 by the government of Liberia for allegedly conniving with three of the ministry's employees which the state says entered into a secret arrangement with businesses and individuals to supply them with electric power from the ministry's 145KVA generator.
Judge Karboi Nuta of criminal court "C", in his ruling on Thursday February 4, 2010, said the evidence adduced by the state was not sufficient to convict the Mr. Genesis. He furthered dismissed the art of conspiracy by the defendants as claimed by the state.
Judge Nuta who cited the three elements of conspiracy clarified that with all of the documentary evidence adduced in court by the state, there appear no convincing element to show that the allege actors ever met jointly or separately as parties to agree to commit the act of theft of property and frud as claimed by the government of Liberia.
"Therefore it is the ruling of this court that predicated on 37LLR at page 695 SY1.3 and 37LLR at page 761 SY1.1, 39LLR at page 870 SY1.5 and 6 found at page 50 and criminal procedure law revised 2.2 SY1.1 that the testimonies, documentary evidence and the facts and circumstances surrounding this case as produced here in this courts are not sufficient to warrant conviction of the defendant for or as charge and as such defendant is herein acquittal of all charges and all charges against him is dismissed. And it is hereby so ordered." Judge Karboi Nuta ruled.
Mr. Genesis was then seeing in a mood of joy and excitement soon after the ruling was made.
He noted that from the onset of the case he knew that he would be vindicated because according to him, his indictment was base on lies and speculations.

I don't know about this man. However, some Liberians who are responsible for electricity in Liberia are still forcing people for money for electricity. About a year ago, a family member called me in the U.S. to give info on the total amount it would cost to restore electricity in our home in Liberia. I sent a surplus amount to allow him to register for restoration of our service at home. He called me back, after two months to say, he tried all he could but, things were very difficult to get through to the right department to register. He also noticed people receiving bribes from well dignified looking people, to have their services restored. Those who did not have the kind of money to bribe, were told; "we're out of light poles. As soon as we receive some new poles, you can come and register. My family member, while standing around and begging for service, saw a friend of the family who told him to turn the money over to him, and he will make sure electricity is restored in our home. He spoke so highly of the friendship he had with my family. Because this man was believed, the money was turned over to him with the belief he will use the money to register our service and then call someone at the house to inform them of the service restoration. It never happened, neither was the money returned. There was no explanation for about eight months, until I made a call to this man at the electric company. His statement was all hogwash. My money is still not returned. Those people are just not trustworthy. They are all the same. They will never change.
So what next now? good to know you have been cleared of stealing current.
thx
Even if you are freed at last as you are proclaiming, its a shame for mama Liberia to see neighboring country carrying on development, improving the lives of their citizens, while we are still prosecuting high profiled individuals for stealing electricity.. This sent the wrong signal to the rest of the world that even those that are trusted with state power are not trustworthy and that development is a million years away from our shores
