This year's event is organised within the framework of the National Youth Day celebrations.
The premises of the Yaounde City Council hall were exceptionally busy yesterday. The event was the official launching of the 12th edition of the Youth Employment Week.
Organised by the National Employment Fund in collaboration with the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training, the event brought together top officials of the Centre Region and students from seven schools in the region. The objective of the youth employment week is to inform youths on the programmes and measures to facilitate their insertion in professional life. It will also be an occasion for the youths to embrace their future through diverse activities such as open door days, visit of schools, training workshops, and practical workshops for the mounting of projects. The youth employment week which brings together several partners of employment and vocational training are equally destined to improve information of youths on the branches of training and information communication technologies and, evolution of subjects and qualifications as well, as their possibilities of insertion for adequate training or employment.
Speaking during the occasion, the Minister of Employment and Professional Training, Zachary Perevet, said the ministry will this year organise a meeting grouping all stakeholders in the employment sector in view of sealing a national pact on questions concerning employment, This, according to him, is believed will provide answers to the self employment which is susceptible to increase production and renders the economy more competitive. Minister Prevet called on the youths to participate fully in this year's edition in order to discover and benefit from the different workshops put at their disposal by the National Employment Fund. This year, the National Employment is expecting a massive turnout of students as compared to the previous years and most of all for the youths to get acquainted with the diversity in the job market.
