Namibians Attacked in Angolan Capital

SEVEN Namibians were attacked by eight unidentified armed robbers in Luanda, Angola, on Monday night.

Two of the Namibians were stabbed and had to receive stitches.

The Namibians, a group of pilots and engineers working for Angola Air Services, were reportedly attacked in the early evening when the gunmen stormed the group outside of their home and forced them inside.

A source said the group were ordered to stand in line while the gunmen conti-nued assaulting them with their weapons and ordered them to hand over their cash. The attackers carried AK-47s and screwdrivers with which they stabbed two of their hostages.

The gunmen stole cash, laptop computers, cellphones and other personal items. The value of the items and cash stolen could not be verified, but it was allegedly "quite substantial".

No shots were fired during the estimated 30 minutes the attackers remained in the house.

It has been confirmed that the Angolan police investigating the robbery are concerned that a cartel is at work, as a similar incident took place in Luanda two weeks before.
