Former minister of sports, Bala Ka'oje, has criticised the Nigeria Football Federation over the manner they have been going about the engagement of a new technical manager for the national team.

Speaking on RayPower fm's programme, the former sports minister said the method applied so far was awkward and portrayed the NFF as unserious.

He particularly expressed concern over the trip to Europe by some members of the executive committee and the Director General of the National Sports Commission, Patrick Ekeji, to interview coaches short-listed for the job.

Ka'oje emphasised that by interviewing the applicants in Europe, the football governing body had belittled itself in the eyes of whoever eventually takes up the job.

"The coach comes here as the master because the process of employing him has made him the boss.

"You go from Africa to Europe and meet somebody in his house, inform him you have a job waiting for him. He will come here and do what he likes. I think going to London makes it absurd. We should have announced that there was vacancy and let people show interest," Ka'oje reasoned.

He noted that with the limited time ahead of the World Cup, the NFF should have thought twice before opting for a foreign manager."With 102 days to the Mundial, why go to Europe? These foreign coaches don't even know our players," he remarked.
