The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) made two rounds of payments last week to parties that are running in the May 2010 election.
There are 79 parties legally registered with the board, but only 55 have so far announced that they are fielding candidates for the election. The Federal Government has allocated seven million Birr to support the contending parties.
