Uganda: Sebaggala Quits DP

Kampala — Kampala mayor, Ntege Sebaggala has quit the Democratic Party citing irregularities in the just concluded party elections where he lost to Nobert Mao.

He says he will form his own political party.

Sebbagala claims that the elections that saw Mao becoming the DP president general were marred with a lot of irregularities. He demands that the whole exercise be repeated in two weeks time.

Sebaggala accuses the party Electoral Commission for failing to to display the voters register and to show that exact number of delegates who were supposed to participate in the voting exercise. Meanwhile, the new Democratic Party president general Norbert Mao is to meet members of the inter-party cooperation to discuss terms of DP joining the group.

DP delegates conference gave Mao and the party National executive committee the mandate to discuss the possibility of joining the coalition. Mao has already written to the coalition members over the matter.

He says his party now has strong leaders who are capable of negotiating with the coalition.
