I may crave every photo opportunity with Jerry Rawlings, but am not sure I really like the man. Years back, he told his soldiers that anyone who wants to be a pepper soup general should join the Nigerian army. When he met IBB, he denied it.

This time around, he is mocking ex-Nigerian rulers. And in case nobody is protesting, I am. A little bird just whispered to me that the first rains swept away Jerry Rawlings only home. He didn't tell me if it was made of spittle. But it was true that Rawlings appealed to incumbent John Attah Mills to grant him a free guest house to temporarily shelter his family, which if you remember, comprises of JJ and Nana Konadu.

Just as he was moving into the borrowed house, his successor John Kuffour made a similar curious request. He too wants Attah Mills to help him repair his leaking roof. Now tell me, are these stories meant to make Generals Obasanjo, Abubakar; Babangida and of course modest Governor Modu Sheriff and his deputy feel bad? These people are mocking Nigerian rulers. Two retired heads of state, filing destitution claims after leading a whole country. Nigerian councillors know better. I mean, Ghana has been a land of gold before Ibn Batuta suckled his mother's... And for God's sake under Kuffour, petrol was discovered. Who stopped these people from taking el-Rufai's position by granting a few hectares of land to their wife, children, brothers and sisters if for good conscience they will not give their girlfriends? Is it because they believe their pastors' claim that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God? God bless the kingdom of man!

See how these people are mocking Nigerian rulers. In modern-day Africa, where Mobutu Sese Seko died richer than the DRC and Houphouet Boigny was the benefactor of la Cote d'Ivoire? Have they not read how the Land Use Act helped an orphaned general to become one of the richest farmers in black Africa even though you cannot find his products in Sahad Superstores? Or that Baba Na Dutse's Minna palace is contesting with Mai Deribe's chateau? Did Rawlings go to the same military institutions as Abdulsalami Abubakar? Or was he playing with Nana while they were teaching "Surviving Post Leadership Years".

Did Rawlings not learn a thing or two from David Mark, whose escrow accounts are said to be sufficient to take care of the proceeds of his virility within or outside Nigeria? And if those generals, peppersoup products as they are, are too much for him, where was John Kuffour when Nigerian politicians were flocking into his country for retreats? Did he not learn about the daughter of an army general ex-ruler whose prosecution for using oversight money to go Ghana almost cost her shame! Did John Kuffour think that the laws that cost Adenike Grange and Gabriel Adukwu could be applied to him if he annexed a couple of those hotels between Accra and Elmina Castle? It beats my imagination how a man who served Ghana two terms as its leader and discovered oil failed to reserve any block for his unborn great grandson. Is that modesty or stupidity?

In fact, I am truly angry with these two and with the Nigerian media for even managing to tuck such stories in the inside pages of their papers. What are they trying to teach our rulers? To serve and die with all their sense? How can Rawlings fail to build one chateau in Scotland in honour of his late father? How can he fail to open some fat bank accounts and save us the precious tears we are now shedding for his stupidity?

For crying out loud, if Kuffour had consulted to Bola Tinubu, he would have received a free lesson or two about introducing tax companies and getting a generous pension. And if only he was not so stupid pretending that Ghana is not rich and flying economy British Airways class to ECOWAS meetings even as chairman, he could have had a few planes registered in his name instead of becoming a fine beggar. I swear, people like Rawlings and Kuffour make leadership totally unattractive? Couldn't they have borrowed a leaf from Ali Modu Sheriff on how to settle parliaments for a generous retirement package?

What do all the political science tutors in Legon teach? I hereby decree, sorry, I mean, suggest that Dimeji Bankole should please withdraw his wife from that Ghanaian school where she is studying medicine. On graduating, (she may out of Ghanaian modesty) watch him chuckle on his own saliva while attending to a homeless beggar from Itoko. Any Nigerian with a child in any Ghanaian school should please withdraw them before they graduate as mumu. The Ghanaians have nothing good to teach other than stupidity. I rest my case.
