Somalia: Land Mine Blast Kills 4 Soldiers, Wounds 5 Others

Somalia — At least four government soldiers have been killed and five others wounded in Mogadishu after land mine blast targeted to Somali government military vehicle traveling around Mana-bolyo intersection in north of the capital, witnesses told Shabelle radio on Friday.

Residents confirmed to shabelle radio that the mine was a remote controlled land mine which could be heard all areas around the area in the north adding that 4 of the troops who were all on board the died, injuring 5 others in the spot.

More government troops had instantly reached at the area where the blast occurred and opened fire in the air though it was unclear whether the troops killed or wounded the people around the area.

The movements of the people and traffic at Mana-bolyo intersection was halted as the troops were continuing search operations in the areas where the blasts occurred though the latest reports say that the situation of zone returned normal.

The explosion seems to be part of a string of blasts that often targeted to the government officials in the Somali capital.
