Namibia: Manufacturing Industry Faced With Many Challenges

Windhoek — The manufacturing sector is faced with many challenges including skills shortage in the labour market, preferential procurement of locally produced products by government and retailers as well as unfair trade practices within the SADC region, says Hennie Fourie, CEO of the Namibian Manufacturing Association (NMA).

"It is essential that policies and strategies developed to promote development in the private sector, such as the National Export Strategy, Private Sector Development Strategy and Foreign Direct Investment Act, be approved and implemented as soon as possible to promote accelerated growth in the manufacturing and other sectors of the economy," Fourie says.
