Nigeria: Internet And Control of Medicines

Abuja — The issue of shady deals perpetuated by dealers in drugs and food products through pharmacy shops and patent medicine stores is well known, but counterfeiters using the internet to get to consumers also exist.

Dr Philip O Emafo, a foremost professional and immediate past president of the International Narcotics Control Board (INCB) says the practice is on the increase. The following is an abridged and edited version of a researched paper which he delivered at an event which the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) organized in Abuja to honour some of Nigeria's earliest pharmacists.
