Kampala — Uganda Lawn Tennis Association (ULTA) will have to dig deep into their pockets if they are to send a team for the Davis Cup Group III qualifiers.
Action will be in Morocco, May 3-8.
"The association has started preparations for the world men's team event, but we are facing difficulties of raising funds," the association chairman John Nagenda said.
"Despite, that we shall definitely send a team and we are in talks with our sponsors."
ULTA needs over sh28m for the team. The team will be led by top seed Duncan Mugabe.
Robert Buyinza and the USA based Patrick Olobo and Bob Ndibwami are also on the team.
Uganda last participated at the Davis Cup four years ago and this will be her eleventh outing.
Seventeen nations in four pools will battle for places to the next group. The winners in each pool will go into a play-off
to decide the two nations to be promoted to the next group.
The event in Morocco will have teams from Algeria, Angola, Botswana, Cameroon, Congo, Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Morocco, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
