Uganda: No Woman Should Die Giving Birth - First Lady

Kampala — The First Lady and Patron of the White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood Uganda Janet Museveni has challenged all Ugandans not to tolerate maternal death which is still high at 435 deaths per 100,000 live births or 16 maternal deaths per day.

Speaking during a breakfast meeting for the corporate community at Sheraton Hotel Kampala on Thursday, Mrs. Museveni who is also minister of State for Karamoja said: "the tragedy of maternal death does not just end at the loss of the mother but the children left behind also experience untold suffering."
