Rwanda: MPs to Celebrate Women's Day in Gicumbi

Kigali — The Rwandan women parliamentarians, under their umbrella organization, Forum for women Parliamentarians (FFRP), and the White Ribbon Alliance-Rwanda Chapter, will today mark International Women's Day in Gicumbi district.

According to the FFRP Chairperson, Sen. Marie Mukantabana, women lawmakers and several women's organizations will meet at the Parliamentary buildings and set off for Gicumbi, where the main celebrations will take place.

"We will move with a vehicle procession to Gicumbi where we will celebrate International Women's Day," Mukantabana said. "In Gicumbi, a team of three members of the White Ribbon Alliance will cross the border to Uganda and travel to Kampala to meet their counterparts."

The team will carry a massage of joining hands with their Ugandan counterparts to reduce maternal mortality.

Under the theme 'Equal Rights, Equal Opportunities and Progress for all' Mukantabana said that women will unite to give mothers better life.
