Uganda: Luzira Inmates Pass UACE

Women inmates from Luzira Prisons who sat for the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examination last year performed well with Ms Susan Kigula, a death row inmate, obtaining 17 points.

26 candidates

Out of the 26 candidates who sat for the exams, five were women and they all obtained two principal passes which is the minimum requirement for admission into university.

The best student, Mr Pascal Kakuru, who is on death row, obtained 21 points (ABBC in HED/ Entrepreneurship) and a 4 in General Paper.

He was followed by Ms Kigula who scored 5 in GP, BDBD in HED/Entrepreneurship and the third best is Ms Jane Nandy a suspect on remand who scored 6 in General Paper, BDCD in HED/ Entrepreneurship.

Twenty eight students were registered for UACE but 26 sat for the exams with ten inmates who are on death row and three have finished serving their sentences in various capital offences and have been released.
