Luanda — Angola's ruling MPLA party has called for combat at all levels the misuse of public funds, dishonest and embezzlement practices.
This was stated Saturday, here, by the secretary for information of MPLA's Provincial Committee, Fragata de Morais, in representation of the provincial first secretary of MPLA in Luanda, Bento Bento.
Addressing a political event held at Luanda's Island, Fragata de Morais said that the party will not tolerate the practices bent on harming property belonging to the people and Angolan State.
"Those who squander public funds should not only give back what they took, but also deal with the corresponding penalty enshrined in the laws that govern our country," stressed the politician.
In his speech, the official spoke of the MPLA's role as the guarantor of peace, harmony, tranquillity and above all the development and progress of Angola.
"We need more water, more electricity, better sanitation to prevent disease. Therefore, it is necessary money and this is the money from the state budget that must be well managed in order to meet all needs," he emphasized.
On the other hand, he made reference to the approval last Friday by the National Assembly of the Administrative Probity Law, which will require a transparent and consistent management of public affairs.
The event, held under the motto "Angolan Women, more rigorous, more transparency, better governance, gathered militants from different structures of the ruling MPLA party.
