Tunisia: Rahma Ben Ali Qualified for Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games

Tunis — After finishing 6 th at the World Taekwondo Qualification Tournament, which took place on March 3 to 4, 2010 in Tijuana, Mexico, the Tunisian athlete Rahma Ben Ali qualified for "Singapore 2010", the first Youth Olympic Games.

"Singapore 2010" launched by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in July 2007 for young athletes aged 14 to 18 years, will take place from August 14 to 26, 2010 in Singapore.

Rahma Ben Ali won her first three fights respectively against Algeria's Belasli Rosa (13-2), Poland's Daria Cwlklninska (3-1), and Egypt's Hedaya Wahba (8-3) before losing in quarterfinals against Sweden's Jennifer Agren (7-1).

The young Tunisia athlete earned the 6th place after winning her fight against the Spaniard Gema Armesto Rigol (2-1).

The Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic games, which will be covered by 800 representatives of international sports media, will gather nearly 3,600 athletes from 205 National Olympic Committees.

26 sports and cultural activities, as well as educational program will be on the agenda of 2010 Youth Olympics Games.
