Tunisia: Tunis Press Institute to Host Study Day On "Challenges Ahead for the Written Press"

Tunis — The written press which is one of the oldest media in existence, is facing nowadays a number of challenges related to the technological revolution which has been both a boon and a "curse" for the sector.

Electronic journalism is changing traditional ways of writing stories and of conveying information. Today, with the massive number of news media websites, speed, quality and originality are of the essence.

These are some of the issues which will be thrashed out during a study day held at the Tunis Press Institute, on March 8, 2010.

The event which is set under the theme "Challenges ahead for the written press", will be held under the aegis of the Ministry of Communication; it will gather several Tunisian and Arab press companies and media institutions such as the Higher Communication Council, Dar El Amal, Dar Assabah, Dar El Anouar, L'Observateur, Afrique Magazine, Dar El Ahram and An-Nahar.

Mr. Oussama Romdhani, Minister of Communication, will open the study day. One of the highlights of the event will be the awarding of the Assahafa Prize for the best sportswoman of the year, on the basis of a vote by the country's best sports journalists.
