Freetown — The week-long introductory 'C License' coaching course which commenced last Monday successfully ended over the weekend at the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) secretariat, Kingtom.
A total of 37 coaches drawn from across the country - of which six were females - participated in the week schooling which was conducted by SLFA technical director, Sam Obi Metzger.
According to the course instructor, Sam Obi Metzger, as an introductory course, it has helped built on the capacity of the coaches for a 'C License' proper, which will commence at a later date, adding that the participants will receive certificates that qualify them for the next course.
"We looked at a lot of aspects in the game because it is now essential for a coach to have a license before he can coach any team in the world. That is why the world and African football governing bodies, FIFA and CAF are stressing on this," he said.
Secretary General of SLFA, Alimu Bah said the course has helped built on the capacity of coaches in the country, adding that it has also created room for the 'C License' course proper.
Some of the topics treated during the course included: the methodology of learning and training, the structure of training and the principles of play.
Also, the coaches were taught about the basic factors of performance and the principles of play.
