Asmara — The renovation of the Forto-Girmaika road that was damaged due to heavy rains is making due contribution in easing transport problem in the area.
The Administrator of Forto-Sawa sub-zone, Mr. Abdelkerim Idris, stated that at present the road has become suitable for transport service. Meanwhile, the construction of canals is underway in a bid to prevent the Forto-Himeret road from being damaged by excessive floods.
Road repair activities have also been undertaken along the Forto-Haikota route, which in turn make due contribution in providing efficient transport service. Reports indicated that the road networks in the sub-zone play major role in transporting agricultural products to the market on time.
The administration of Forto-Sawa sub-zone highlighted the need for renovating and asphalting the Agordat-Girmaika road as it serves as a highway in transporting heavy trucks to and fro the country, as well as Sudan.
