Abuja — Acting President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday sacked the National Security Adviser (NSA), Maj. Gen. Sarki Mukhtar (rtd). Lt. Gen. Aliyu Gusau rtd, was appointed the new NSA.

Senior Special Assistant to the Acting President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Ima Niboro told State House correspondents that the latest Jos crisis dominated discussions at the security meeting held at the presidential Villa yesterday. He said the federal government had put in place security measures to check a recurrence.

Jonathan thanked the outgoing NSA for his services to the nation and the present administration, and wished him well in his future endeavours.

The latest crisis in Jos is being seen as an indictment on the security agencies.

Several incidences took place in the last few months which exposed the inadequacies of the security agencies to effectively deal with the issues before they occurred.

Present at the security meeting at the presidential villa on Monday were Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Alhaji Yayale Ahmed, Chief of Defence Staff, Paul Dike, the Service Chiefs, Abdulrahman Danbazzau (Army); Oluseyi Petinri (Airforce); Ishaya Iko Ibrahim (Navy); and the Director General of the State Security Services (SSS), Afakriya Gadzama; the Inspector General of Police, Ogbonna Onovo; and Chief of Defence Intelligence,

Others are Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation Adetokumbo Kayode, Minister of Interior Shetima Mustapha, Minister of Defense, Major Gen Godwin Abbe (rtd).
