Harare — TEKWANE High School dominated the Methodist Schools track and field events at Chemhanza High School in Hwedza last Saturday.
Led by Liberty Nkosana, young athletes from Tekwane were in dominant form as they outclassed their opponents during the competition which attracted five other schools -- Chemhanza High, Pakame High, Sandringham High, Moleli and Kwenda High.
Crowd favourite Nkosana was named best male athlete among those who took part in the Under-20 category. Nkosana won a number of events including the discus, shotput, 100m race and helped his school's 4x400m relay team to coast to victory in this sprint event.
Tekwane's 4x100m relay team was also led by Nkosana as they came second in this race.
Promising Under-18 female athlete Ayanda Sibanda, also of Tekwane, was voted the best female competitor after winning the long jump event and the 100m race.
She also led her school's 4x100m relay team to a first place finish in this race.
At the end of the competition on Saturday, top honours in the girls section went to Tekwane who amassed a total of 393 points, followed by Pakame High who had 165 points.

Meanwhile, the 2010 Methodist Schools Sports Association Ball Games will be held at Moleli High School during the second term.
