THE Vision 2011 Coalition has challenged the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to publish the list of all non-governmental organisations (NGOs) that have applied for funding and those short-listed for funding in the Electoral Funds.
Vision 2011 executive director Patrick Mukosha said in a statement yesterday the UNDP should state the criteria used to select the NGO to avert allegations that they were being selective and favouring those perceived to be anti-government.
But UNDP country representative McLeod Nyirongo said it was too early for the Vision 2011 to make such allegations because the selection process had not started.
Mr Nyirongo said all that the UNDP did was to advertise for calls for the grant proposals and nothing has happened since.
"All we did was to advertise and we have not even selected an expert to look at these proposals received. In short nothing has happened and people should not speak out of imaginations as it is premature," he said.
Mr Nyirongo said the whole process would be conducted with the rules and regulations of the United Nations system and NGOs should be assured of a transparent process unless they did not meet the criteria.
Mr Nyirongo also said he had some concerns about the conduct of some NGOs and some media in Zambia and would lodge a complaint with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
