Zimbabwe: AFZ Gets U.S.$20,000 Medical Equipment

Harare — THE Air Force of Zimbabwe last Friday received medical equipment worth US$20 000 from a Chinese company  Brownieget to help in its community assistance projects and the general upkeep of its hospitals.

In an interview after receiving the donation, Air Vice Marshal Henry Muchena said the equipment, which comprises 25 000 sets of drips and straps, would be of great help to flood victims in Zimbabwe's low-lying areas.

"It is very heartening to find a friend can come to assist when in need.

"This donation has come at a time the country has once again been hit by floods in the Kanyemba area and I must say this medical kit is the fist line of medication aid in such times.

"There is no rescue work that our officers can perform without this equipment.

"Not only is this donation going to help Air Force members, but it is going to significantly contribute to our community projects.

"The AFZ can now divert its attention to other issues which were proving difficult to accomplish due to shortage of funds."

Air Vice Marshal Muchena said the donation was further proof of the strong Sino-Zimbabwe ties.

He blasted sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe, saying they had impacted negatively on the lives of ordinary people.

The donation was handed over by Brownieget director Mrs Wendy Yang.
