Uganda: Inzikuru Urges Girls to Focus on Success

Kampala — Former world champion Dorcus Inzikuru has told girls in Hoima that with discipline and hard work they can surpass her achievements.

She told mesmerised students at Buhanika PS to always aim beyond Hoima. "You can easily become even better athletes than me. All you have to do is being disciplined," Inzikuru advised

"If you are ambitious and disciplined, the sky will be the limit," she said after leading the students on a six kilometre run from Hoima Town to Buhanika.

"Set your goals and pursue them," advised the athlete who was in Hoima for activities to mark the International Women's Day.

Inzikuru travelled as an ambassador of an international charity Right To Play (RTP).

RTP is an humanitarian organisation that uses sports to aid children and youth in underprivileged areas of the world. The project covers 100,000 children in Uganda. Area MP James Rwebembera urged parents never to undermine the girl child.

RTP publicist Tadeo Atuhura in a moving Lunyoro speech called for equal opportunities. "The times when girls were strictly for marriage or the disabled kept in the back yard, are over."

An ever smiling Inzikuru also participated in ATP games with messages on health, teamwork and environment.
