Uyo — DEPUTY Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Patrick Ekpotu, has urged Nigerians to end the national debate on President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua for the nation to move forward.
Ekpotu, who gave the advice when he received a delegation of the Nigeria Civil Service Union (NCSU), led by Comrade Mike Ukeme, to Government House, Uyo, said this was necessary because Yar'Adua had not only returned to the country, but also given his tacit support to Acting President Goodluck Jonathan.
The deputy governor noted that with the efforts made by the National Assembly and Governors' Forum to douse tension and stabilize the polity, there was no need for people to overflog the issue of the president's illness.
Ekpotu told the labour leaders that government was very appreciative of their roles in stabilizing the country and ensuring its continuity, adding that it was commendable that the NCSU chose the state for its national delegates congress.
The team leader and National Vice President, Comrade Ukeme, who represented the national president, said they were at Government House to identify with the administration of Governor Godswill Akpabio and its outstanding records of achievements.
He lauded the administration for being labour-friendly, noting the introduction of thirteenth month salary to workers and commended the training and re-training of the workforce.
