Angola: Factions Within Opposition FNLA Party End - Acting President

Luanda — The interim president of the opposition FNLA party, Lucas Ngonda, said Tuesday in Luanda, that his party has ended with the factions within its ranks, following the ruling of the Constitutional Court of July 2009.

Lucas Ngonda said so during the extraordinary meeting of the General Secretariat of his party that was aimed at analysing the country's internal situation and the preparations for the celebrations of March 15, 1961, which marked the beginning of the national liberation struggle against the Portuguese colonial regime by FNLA.

According to him, the FNLA extraordinary congress set for July 2010 will mark the reconciliation of the party, whose preparations should be the task of all militants that are engaged in the unification and strengthening of the organisation.

Lucas Ngonda, who recognises that there is still resistance on the part of some internal opponents, highlighted that the party's General Secretariat, has created a commission tasked with discussing conflicting issues and seek for ways to harmonise the organisation.
